This Band Slaps is an iOS app for discovering real local and indie bands. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your precise location with other users.
Information We Collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address, username, and account identifiers needed to sign you in.
Discovery activity: We may store bands you like, bands you skip, discovery filters, and similar app activity so the app can remember your preferences and keep your discovery queue clean.
Location information: If you allow location access, the app uses your device location to help find bands near you. We use this for local discovery and do not show your precise location to other users.
Band submissions: If you submit a band, we collect the information you provide, such as Spotify artist links, city, state, genre selections, website, notes, and related submission details.
Spotify-related information: The app may use Spotify artist links, track links, artist images, genres, and playback-related metadata to show band profiles and open or play music through Spotify on your device.
Support messages: If you contact us by email, we receive the information included in your message.
How We Use Information
We use information to operate the app, create and secure accounts, show relevant local bands, save liked and skipped bands, review band submissions, display featured artists, troubleshoot bugs, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to run the app. These may include Supabase for authentication and database services, Spotify for artist and track information, Resend or another email provider for account emails, and Apple services such as TestFlight, App Store, and iOS system features.
These services may process information according to their own privacy policies.
Location Privacy
Location access is optional. If you deny location permission, you can still use the app, but local discovery may be less personalized. You can change location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Data Retention
We keep account, app activity, and submission information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain the band catalog, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent misuse.
Your Choices
You can update certain profile information in the app. You can remove liked or skipped bands where the app provides those controls. You can request account deletion in the app, which removes or disconnects your account information from the service where technically possible.
Children
This Band Slaps is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to keep the app and its data responsibly managed.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as the app changes. When we make material updates, we will revise the effective date above.
